We’ve seen it before, right, irrefutably proof that fracking is polluting our water? Have we seen it so many times that we are simply blase?

A River on Fire

When I watched this video, shared via the Institute for Building Biology & Ecology, I see myself 30 years in the future, looking back in a world where there is no more clean water running freely from taps, where clean, healthy water is a lot harder and pricier to come by.

But if we don’t like fracking, what do we do about it? How do we extract ourselves (pun intended) from the equation? We do that by starting to recognize the hidden ways we consume energy, the waste we create in our own lives, and the endless opportunities to reduce dependence on petroleum and natural gas resources. Start to extract yourself from a dependency on fossil fuels. You can do it.
